Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate daily schedules and organize patient flow to support efficient clinic operations. Escort patients to exam and procedure rooms and assist with walking, transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and exam preparation as needed. Collect patient histories, obtain vital signs, and perform screenings in accordance with provider guidelines. Provide patient and family education and relay provider instructions as directed. Answer telephone calls and provide appropriate information to patients and families. Prepare patient rooms and set up instruments and equipment according to department protocols. Clean exam and procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control standards. Complete scheduled cleaning and maintenance activities and maintain appropriate documentation. Manage inventory and restock exam and procedure rooms as needed. Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and Level I laboratory testing. Assist physicians with clinical procedures and accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record. Obtain laboratory and imaging reports, hospital records, and referral information. Complete required forms, requisitions, and other clinical documentation. Schedule patient appointments and verify insurance coverage and demographic information. Prepare, maintain, and manage patient charts to ensure information is complete and properly filed. Send and receive medical records in compliance with HIPAA and applicable state and federal regulations. Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medications and vaccines, as appropriate. Comply with all applicable regulatory requirements, including OSHA, CLIA, and Pennsylvania Department of Health standards. Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information, medical records, and other sensitive data. Adhere to all UPMC policies, procedures, and standards of conduct. Perform additional clinical and administrative duties as assigned. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
