The Medical Assistant (MA) will support healthcare providers in a correctional setting by performing both clinical and administrative tasks—including vital signs monitoring, assisting with examinations, dispensing medications per supervision, maintaining medical records, and coordinating patient care—all within facility policies and applicable regulations. Impact:
Dispense oral, inhalation, and topical medications as delegated by licensed clinical staff, documenting dosage and timing accurately. Monitor and restock medication carts and medical supplies, supporting inventory and compliance with storage protocols. Assist with vital signs, examinations, specimen collection, and similar clinical tasks as delegated. Maintain accurate patient records and coordinate care in adherence to security and facility policies. Respond promptly to requests from medical and safety staff, respecting chain of command and professional conduct standards. Perform additional related duties as assigned. What we
Ask of YOU:
A current, valid state(s) certificate: MA 1-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a correctional healthcare or similar environment. Experience in roles that involve direct patient care or administrative support in a regulated environment is preferred. Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to the correctional setting is an advantage. Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, adhere to protocols, and deliver high-quality service in a fast-paced, structured environment. Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved).
