Full-Time The Sleep Disorder Center of Louisiana Position Overview The Sleep Disorder Center of Louisiana is seeking a compassionate, detail‑oriented Medical Assistant / Medical Receptionist with at least 2 years of medical office experience to join our patient‑focused sleep medicine team. This hybrid role blends administrative responsibilities with hands‑on clinical support to ensure seamless patient care for individuals undergoing evaluation and treatment for sleep disorders. Key Responsibilities Patient Reception & Administrative Support Greet and check in patients while delivering professional, empathetic customer service. Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage prior to scheduled appointments. Obtain prior authorizations and precertifications for sleep studies, diagnostic testing, and prescribed medications. Schedule patient appointments, manage provider calendars, and coordinate follow‑up visits. Answer multi‑line phone systems, route calls appropriately, and respond to patient inquiries. Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR), update patient demographics, and ensure complete documentation. Collect copays, process payments, and complete patient registration workflows. Coordinate referrals, process medical records requests, and communicate with pharmacies, laboratories, and specialty providers. Uphold HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality. Clinical Support Duties Prepare patients for evaluation by obtaining vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, height, and weight. Document chief complaints, review medications, update medical history, and prepare exam rooms for nurse practitioner visits. Assist nurse practitioners during patient encounters and provide clinical support as needed. Maintain exam room cleanliness, restock medical supplies, and follow infection control and safety protocols. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office or clinical setting. Experience with EMR systems and strong understanding of medical terminology. Knowledge of insurance processes, prior authorizations, and patient scheduling. Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. Ability to provide compassionate care to patients experiencing sleep‑related health concerns. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to healthcare compliance standards
