THE POSITION
As a Medical Records Assistant with the Department of Corrections (DOC), you will contribute to the smooth operation of health care services every day. Your work will help ensure that vital medical information is handled with care and precision. You will be part of a team at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix that relies on your dedication and attention to detail. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on preparing and maintaining accurate medical records that support health care operations at SCI Phoenix. As a Medical Records Assistant, you will perform the following duties:
Record Management:
Prepare, update, and review electronic, paper, and film medical records for accuracy and completeness
Information Processing:
Upload, extract, and merge data in the electronic health record system while ensuring compliance with standards
Record Handling:
File, issue, and transfer health records and complete documentation for inmate movement and information requests
Archiving Duties:
Maintain and archive inactive records and ensure accurate transfer of records to the
State Records Center Reporting Tasks:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of clerical experience maintaining or reviewing medical records, transcribing dictated or recorded medical information, or conducting medical abstracting and coding; or Graduation from an accredited medical secretarial, medical records, medical transcription, medical assisting, medical coding, or health information management program; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
