Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Medical Assistant to become part of the Totality Pediatrics family, a place where compassion, teamwork, and dedication come together to make a difference every single day. In this role, you will play a vital part in fulfilling our mission to provide exceptional, whole child care, "Here from beginning to grown". You will be the friendly face and skilled hands that help children and families feel comfortable, supported, and truly cared for from the moment they arrive. With a balance of clinical expertise and genuine empathy, you will assist providers, coordinate care, and help create an environment where every patient experience is seamless, personal, and filled with warmth. Duties and Responsibilities Greet patients and families with warmth, professionalism, and genuine care, helping create a calm, welcoming environment Take and record vital signs, height, weight, and patient histories accurately and efficiently Prepare exam rooms and ensure cleanliness, organization, and readiness for each visit Assist providers during exams, procedures, and immunizations with care and attention to detail Perform waived lab tests (flu, strep, RSV, COVID, etc.) and document results accurately Manage vaccine preparation and documentation in compliance with CDC and VFC guidelines Maintain and update patient records in the EMR (eClinicalWorks experience preferred) Handle phone calls, appointment scheduling, and patient follow-ups with professionalism and empathy Support coordination of care, referrals, and patient education to ensure continuity and understanding Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and HIPAA standards Participate in daily huddles, staff meetings, and ongoing quality improvement initiatives Contribute to a positive, team based culture that reflects the Totality Pediatrics mission "Here from beginning to grown." Key Attributes Compassionate communicator: You genuinely care about children and families and express it in every interaction Detail oriented and dependable: Accuracy and follow-through matter to you, especially in healthcare settings Team player: You thrive in a collaborative environment and support your coworkers with positivity and respect Child-friendly demeanor: You bring patience, reassurance, and kindness to every child's visit Adaptable and proactive: You handle busy days with grace, stay organized, and look for ways to help Professional and empathetic: You balance efficiency with warmth, understanding that each family's experience matters Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire) Prior experience in pediatrics or family medicine strongly preferred, but not required Knowledge of clinical procedures, immunizations, and infection control standards Proficiency with electronic medical records (eClinicalWorks experience a plus) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Demonstrated teamwork, professionalism, and reliability Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required
Pay:
$16.00 - $20.00 per hour
