Job Description

LOCATION
Mount Pleasant, South Carolina Are you looking to join a caring team that is dedicated to improving their patients' quality of life? Whether it's the onset of a new condition or chronic pain that's been going on for weeks or months, the team at Signe Spine & Rehab, LLC aims to reduce the use of surgery, prescription opioids, and frequent procedures as much as possible with thorough evaluations, spine-specific physical therapy, and targeted interventional procedures when necessary. This is the new victory in spine care, which is the mission of Board-certified physiatrist Daniel Nemeth, MD, and his team.
EDUCATION
High school diploma required; current Certified Medical Assistant certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE
At least two year of medical assisting experience in a physician's office or hospital.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
1. Monitors, assesses, and responds to patient notes in computerized medical records software. Ensures all tasks in EHR are completed in a timely manner. Reports any immediate needs to the providers' attention as soon as possible. 2. Assists physicians/mid-level providers in the performance of their duties as requested. 3. Attend scheduled monthly meetings. 4. Enters order and tracks results of CT scans, MRIs, and other off-site tests. 5. Ensures that patient charts in Athena have appropriate lab / procedure results, (tied to the correct location). 6. Disposes of contaminated items according to OSHA guidelines. 7. Returns patient phone messages at designated times throughout the day; documents action taken in patient chart. 8. Prepares clinic paperwork in advance, to ensure a smooth efficient workflow. 9. Monitors patient flow and escorts them from the reception room to exam/radiology department as indicated. 10. Prepares patients for exam or treatment by taking a complete intake: Inclusive of history, height/weight, blood pressure, allergies, updating medications, etc., and recording the information in the patient's Athena chart and exposing treatment site, when time permits. 11. Puts fee ticket in door holder for physicians when patient is ready in exam room and notify in Athena at the end of the intake. Places appropriate signage on outside of the door for added communication. 12. Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice. 13. Answers the phone to schedule patients and answer patient questions. 14. Obtains cardiac clearance as requested. 15. Monitors WC Rx dispensing program. JOB KNOWLEADGE, SKILLS, and
ABILITIES
1. Must have general medical assisting skills to include taking blood pressure, H&Ps, drawing-up injectables, handling of instruments, etc. 2. Must be familiar with medical terminology. 3. Must have basic knowledge of CPT and
ICD-9/ ICD-10
coding applications. 4. Must have basic computer skills and experience with practice or management and word processing software. 5. Must feel comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications. 6. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. 7. Must display a courteous, positive, and helpful attitude to patients, their families, staff and physicians to include a pleasant speaking voice and demeanor. 8. Must feel comfortable working in a team environment consisting of staff, physicians, patients, and outside vendors. 9. Must be reliable and highly motivated. 10. Must be able to accurately follow office procedures and protocols with minimum supervision.
