Certified Medical Assistant Full Job Description About This Job:
As a Certified Medical Assistant , you play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care within our clinic. You are responsible for assisting physicians and nurses with clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring smooth patient flow, and maintaining a safe and efficient environment. Your contributions directly impact patient satisfaction and the overall success of our healthcare team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides direct patient care , including preparing patients for examinations and procedures. Accurately measures and records vital signs , such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rate. Utilizes electronic health records (EHR) systems to document patient information, update medical histories, and manage appointments. Administers injections as directed by physicians, adhering to proper technique and safety protocols. Performs EKG testing, ensuring accurate readings and proper documentation. Collects and processes laboratory specimens, including phlebotomy , following established procedures. Applies medical terminology accurately when communicating with healthcare professionals and documenting patient information. Maintains strict HIPAA compliance and protects patient confidentiality at all times. Manages patient scheduling , including appointment confirmations, rescheduling, and insurance verification. Verifies insurance information and obtains necessary authorizations for patient services.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited program.
Experience:
Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting preferred.
Knowledge/Skills:
Proficient in taking vital signs, administering injections, and performing EKGs. Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy techniques. Strong understanding of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, and patient confidentiality. Experience using electronic health records (EHR) systems. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with specific EHR systems used by the organization. Bilingual in English and another language relevant to the patient population.
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions:
Requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting. May be exposed to infectious diseases and hazardous materials. Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds. Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity for performing clinical tasks. Medical Assistant Certificate
