Overview
JOB SUMMARY
The Central Health Medical Assistant (MA) Apprenticeship Program is a true "earn and learn" pathway to employment for individuals wanting to become a certified medical assistant. All apprentices will be full-time employees with benefits and eligible for hire upon completion of the program. The program prepares apprentices to complete the medical assistant certification exam. This program includes 15 weeks of paid apprenticeship which includes 360 hours of instruction and a minimum of 160 hours of practicum experience. The Medical Assistant Apprentice provides direct and indirect patient care activities in accordance with the training program in an ambulatory care setting under the direction of an apprentice preceptor. Mandatory in-person full attendance is expected, and vacation will not be granted in this expedited program. Apprentice must be 18 years or above, clear all Austin Community College registration holds prior to starting the program, and always be in good standing. Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Complete the medical assistant apprenticeship program following the assigned schedule.

Successfully complete course modules.

Successfully complete required clinical practicum hours.

Observes and follows health and safety procedures.

Adheres to patient confidentiality at all times and treats patients with courtesy and respect.

Collaborates, communicates respectfully and professionally with all members of the care team in providing patient-centered care and regarding processes and clinical issues.

Provides culturally competent care to diverse patient population. Qualifications
