Non-Exempt SUMMARY The Medical Assistant supports client care in a detox and residential behavioral health setting by assisting with monitoring, medication support (within scope), documentation, and coordination of services. This role works closely with the medical and clinical teams to ensure care is delivered safely, accurately, and in alignment with physician orders, facility standards, and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Obtain and record vital signs, including
CIWA/COWS
assessments. Monitor client status and report changes to nursing staff or providers. Assist with assessments, treatments, and procedures as directed. Prepare, administer, and document medications as ordered. Observe for and report adverse reactions or side effects. Maintain safe medication handling and storage practices. Complete documentation in the medical record in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain Medication Administration Records (MARs) Ensure entries are complete, legible, and consistent with facilities standards. Assist with intake by obtaining and documenting initial clinical information. Coordinate with admissions and clinical teams to support continuity of care. Maintain clean and organized clinical areas. Follow infection control and safety protocols. Ensure equipment and supplies are available and in working order. Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients. Communicate clearly with clients, families, and team members. Protect confidentiality in accordance with organization policies, HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.. LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers. Ability to communicate effectively through email. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) as well as CRM platforms, specifically Sales Force.
