Job Description

Legacy Bone and Joint Orthopedics is presently looking for a Medical Assistant. The successful applicant will be cross trained to perform administrative and clinical duties. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physicians Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies Explain treatment procedures, medications, or physicians' instructions to patients Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, entering patient histories, or completing insurance forms Schedule appointments for patients Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials, and setting up for injections, or performing such tasks as removing sutures or staples, casting, or splinting Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for test or admission Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information Stocks and maintains exam rooms and clinic areas with standard levels of supplies, medications, linens, forms and equipment. Notifies clinic manager when supplies are short Ensures that needle containers and potentially infectious waste are appropriately disposed and removed from the clinic and exam areas according to the infection control guidelines Provides appropriate patient educations and health information materials that the physician might request Be able to work flexible hours and cover other offices and other positions when necessary. Operates the fax machine, copier, and multi-line phone systems Monitor email for relevant company communications daily Must be available for mandatory company or department meetings. Notifications will be sent via company email.
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility:
High School diploma or GED. Knowledge of medical terminology. Minimum one (1) year experience as a medical assistant.

$22.00 - $25.00 per hour
