7:50 am to 5:00 pm one to two Saturdays a month from 7:50 am to 12:00 pm

Summary:
A medical assistant or MA is cross-trained to perform clinical and administrative duties. The primary responsibility of an MA is assisting providers (consisting of physicians, advanced practice registered nurse, and physician assistants) in the provision of medical services to patients. As part of these duties, MAs are expected to perform the tasks listed below. Although some tasks are administrative in nature rather than clinical it is imperative to remember that both tasks are vitally important to providing the highest quality medical services to our patients. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Unless stated otherwise, all duties are essential. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Oversees and ensures efficient turnover of exam rooms. 2. Maintains exam rooms in a neat, clean, and presentable manner at all times. 3. Escorts patients from the waiting room to examination rooms. 4. Ensures patient records contain all pertinent information and verify patient history. 5. Identifies which vaccines need to be administered based on immunization schedule. 6. Administers age-appropriate immunizations. 7. Applies knowledge of sterile techniques and OSHA work place safety regulations. 8. Inquire about patients' needs and comply with those needs. 9. Calls in prior authorizations for prescriptions. 10. Calls in RX prescriptions into pharmacies (as needed basis). 11. Returns patient phone calls if needed. 12. Obtains lab results. 13. Obtains X-ray results. 14. Verifies that electronic health records are complete and current.

Language, Math, and Reasoning Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to calculate basic figures. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to learn how to use clinic software, i.e. eMDs or Phreesia.
Education/Experience:
Minimum - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
Medical Assistant License Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:
• Oral communication skills a must - open lines of communication are essential in building trust and you should always feel comfortable asking questions. • Must work well in a team environment and be professional.

Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
