About Us We are a growing Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine practice dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients with respiratory conditions and sleep disorders. Our team is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care in a professional and supportive environment. Position Summary We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine team. The Medical Assistant will support physicians and advanced practice providers by assisting with patient care, coordinating diagnostic testing, managing clinical documentation, and ensuring efficient patient flow throughout the clinic. Duties commonly include rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, documenting in the EMR, assisting with pulmonary and sleep-related testing, scheduling studies, and providing patient education. ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and chief complaints. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures. Assist providers during office visits and minor procedures. Perform 6 min walk, pulse oximetry, spirometry, and other diagnostic testing as trained. Assist with Pulmonary Function Testing (PFTs) and Home Sleep Test (HST) setup and patient education. Administer injections and medications as ordered by providers and permitted by state regulations. Document patient information accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Prepare and clean exam rooms; maintain adequate clinical supplies. Educate patients regarding medications, oxygen therapy, CPAP/BiPAP equipment, sleep studies, and treatment plans. Administrative Duties Answer patient phone calls and portal messages. Schedule office visits, pulmonary testing, sleep studies, and follow-up appointments. Process referrals, prior authorizations, and medication refill requests. Verify insurance and obtain necessary authorizations. Coordinate with DME companies, sleep labs, hospitals, and referring providers. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. QualificationsRequired High School Diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience. Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or equivalent) preferred. Current BLS/CPR certification. Proficiency with EMR systems and basic computer skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment. Preferred 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience. Experience in Pulmonary, Sleep Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Practice. Familiarity with Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT), Home Sleep Testing (HST), CPAP/BiPAP therapy, and oxygen equipment
Pay:
$15.00 - $18.00 per hour
