  • Full-time Position Overview North Houston Diabetes Institute is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our growing endocrinology and diabetes practice.
This position requires both strong clinical skills and the ability to manage administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced outpatient setting. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working directly with patients while also handling referrals, prior authorizations, scheduling, and coordination of care with insurance companies and outside providers. Responsibilities Room patients and obtain vital signs Document patient information accurately in the EMR Assist physicians with patient care and in-office procedures Manage referrals to specialists, imaging centers, and ancillary services Process and track prior authorizations for medications, imaging, and procedures Communicate with insurance companies regarding coverage requirements Handle prescription refill requests and pharmacy communications Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up care Maintain organized patient records and documentation Answer phones and assist with general front office duties as needed Qualifications Medical Assistant certification preferred, but experience may be considered Prior experience in a medical office required Experience with referrals and insurance prior authorizations strongly preferred Knowledge of EMR systems (Athena) Preferred Strong organizational and multitasking skills Professional communication and customer service abilities Ability to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment Endocrinology or internal medicine experience is a plus Schedule Full-time preferred Monday-Friday Occasional flexibility may be required based on clinic needs Compensation Competitive pay based on experience Opportunity for growth within the practice Location Humble 9816 Memorial Blvd. Suite #200 Humble, TX 77338 How to Apply Please submit your resume along with a brief summary of your experience with: Prior authorizations Insurance verification Referrals EMR systems Direct patient care experience comfortable enough to work on a second location 45 minutes appartMedical Assistant
