Job Description

Highly successful, growing pediatric practice seeks to expand its clinical care team with the addition of this Medical Assistant position. Pediatric experience strongly preferred, but not required. Full-time, Monday-Friday, rotating Saturday mornings (exact hours TBD upon hire) Position Summary The Medical Assistant position is a critical part of the care team and performs various outpatient clinic duties under the direction of Pediatrician and/or Team Lead. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Applies basic technical skills and knowledge of operational processes to perform straightforward and routine activities;
  • Uses standard operating procedures to guide own work and solve standard problems;
  • Escalates unfamiliar or difficult problems to more experienced colleagues; Responsible for the accuracy of own work;
  • Recognizes opportunities to provide good customer service and demonstrates courtesy in all interactions;
  • Prepare patient for examination and treatment; gather patient data regarding condition; takes vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, respiration, height and weight and documents this information in the medical record;
  • May perform point of care testing as required for their position;
  • Administers and appropriately documents injections based on physician orders;
  • Collects lab specimens and processes according to established procedures;
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment; including, cleaning rooms between patients, cleaning laboratory and equipment, properly disposing of medical waste and trash, stocking and organizing supplies, and promptly reporting any identified environmental hazards.
  • May provide patients and families prewritten instructions as directed by the provider.
  • Schedules referral appointments for patients; may assist with admission activities and processing of required documentation
  • May assist with front office duties such as scheduling appointments, answering telephones, and arranging transportation for patients for back-up purposes
  • May complete government documents and DME forms that do not require assessment or clinical judgment.
  • May perform other duties and special projects as required.
Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent, required Graduation from a Medical Assisting program, National Certification preferred (but not required) Experience At least 1-3 years' experience in a patient care setting, pediatrics strongly preferred (but not required) Must be familiar with pediatric vaccine schedule Licenses BLS/CPR certification upon hire and renewed bi-annually, required MA certification acquired through an accredited program Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Meet patient and patient family needs; take responsibility for a patient's safety, satisfaction, and clinical outcomes; use appropriate interpersonal techniques to resolve difficult patient situations and regain patient confidence.
  • Develop and use collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.

  • Effectively manage one's time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently.
  • Accomplish tasks by considering all areas involved, no matter how small; showing concern for all aspects of the job; accurately checking processes and tasks; being watchful over a period of time.
  • Set high standards of performance for self and others; assume responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; self-impose standards of excellence rather than having standards imposed.
