Job Description

Description Medical Assistant needed for an established Rheumatology practice. Full-time position. This role combines both clinical back-office support and triage responsibilities. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, comfortable multitasking, and able to balance patient care with high call volume.
Requirements Back Office Responsibilities:
PRIMARY DUTIES
include, but are not limited to:
  • Answering phone calls and voicemails.
  • Answering patient clinical questions.
  • Review medical history and counsel patients regarding their clinical status and need for further evaluation or treatment.
  • Evaluate a new complaint by phone and triage to emergent, urgent, or routine appointments.
  • Locate laboratory results not yet in the patient's medical records.
  • Explaining/documenting laboratory results.
  • Calling in prescription refills.
  • Explaining procedures and treatments.
  • Initiating prior authorizations.
  • Schedules appointments and urgent visits as appropriate.
  • Documenting all information into the computer system.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Adheres to policies/safety practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Triage Responsibilities:
PRIMARY DUTIES
include, but not limited to:
  • Greeting and rooming patients, obtaining accurate vital signs, obtaining patient histories, assisting nurses/primary MAs with paperwork, and other tasks assigned.
  • Keep exam rooms cleaned and stocked
  • Must be able to multitask and willing to work as a team.
  • Must have reliable transportation and live in area.
  • Assist with injections (bedside, vaccines, etc)
  • Excellent time management-and willingness to help others

  • Ability to multitask between triage and clinical duties throughout the day
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to assist where needed
  • Dependable and punctual (very important)
  • Professional, empathetic, and patient-focused
Requirements Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma required
  • Medical Assistant experience preferred (willing to train strong new grads)
  • EMR experience required
  • eClinicalWorks experience preferred
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive and professional attitude
Additional Requirements:
  • Reliable transportation and ability to commute to Rockwall
  • Ability to travel to other locations if needed
