Medical Assistant Texas Gut Health Sachse, TX Job Details Full-time $20 - $25 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Qualifications Teamwork Vital signs Medical scheduling High school diploma or GED Medical terminology Full Job Description Texas Gut Health is seeking a motivated and compassionate Medical Assistant (MA) to join our growing gastroenterology practice. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, patient-focused, and able to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment. Prior experience in gastroenterology and proficiency with electronic health records—particularly eClinicalWorks—are strongly preferred. This role involves both direct patient care and administrative responsibilities to support physicians, advanced practice providers, and overall clinic operations. Clinical Duties Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, allergies, and chief complaints Prepare patients for examinations and office-based procedures Assist providers during examinations and procedures as needed Administer medications per provider orders and within scope of practice Perform specimen collection, and basic point-of-care testing Provide patient education regarding procedures, bowel prep instructions, medications, and follow-up care Coordinate prescription refills and prior authorizations Triage patient phone calls and portal messages appropriately Maintain exam room cleanliness, stocking, and organization Ensure proper infection control and OSHA compliance Administrative Duties Document patient encounters accurately within eClinicalWorks Assist with scheduling clinic visits, procedures, imaging, and referrals Manage incoming records, lab results, and provider task lists Coordinate with hospitals, surgery centers, pharmacies, and referring providers Support efficient patient flow and clinic operations Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) Minimum 1 year of clinical experience preferred Gastroenterology experience strongly preferred Experience using eClinicalWorks strongly preferred Knowledge of medical terminology, GI procedures, and medication management Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a team-based environment Professional demeanor and strong attention to detail Preferred Skills Familiarity with colonoscopy and upper endoscopy workflows Experience with insurance authorizations and referrals Comfort educating patients regarding bowel preparations and GI conditions Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent patient care standards What We Offer Competitive compensation based on experience Supportive and collaborative team environment Opportunity to grow with a physician-owned private practice Meaningful impact in delivering high-quality digestive healthcare to the community
