We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Medical Assistant who excels in a fast-paced environment and can confidently juggle multiple tasks, rooming for 5 providers, answering phone calls, returning phone calls, and sending prescription refills simultaneously.

REQUIRES
traveling to our rural location several times a month. Patient Interaction & Preparation Interview patients to obtain medical history, vital signs, weight, and height Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians' instructions, and complete physician orders at the close of the appointment Obtain patient signature on enrollment forms and misc. clinical consent forms Clinical Support & Procedures Record medical histories, vital statistics, and test results in patient records Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician Request medical records Assist physicians during examinations and treatments, including giving injections, and helping with ultrasound guided joint injections Administer and document Subcutaneous biologics, and patient education, patient demonstration on self-administration of biologic medications Administrative & Operational Duties Handle callbacks, portal messages, clinical tasking, and virtual visits, phone triage Authorize drug refills with provider approval and provide prescription information to pharmacies Complete prior authorizations for medications. Complete appeals for medication denials. Complete prior authorizations on medical procedures. Prepare samples for pickup and treatment rooms for examinations, ensuring cleanliness and sterility Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule tests or request medical records Perform general office duties, including answering telephones, completing insurance forms, completing enrollment forms for copay assistant programs Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies and equipment Operate ultrasound and other diagnostic equipment, including EKG machine Sort and clear faxes filing them in the appropriate patient chart and tasking to the appropriate team member Perform additional duties as required Qualifications & Skills Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting Strong multitasking abilities—capable of managing at least five responsibilities concurrently in an extremely fast-paced clinical setting Extremely detailed oriented Excellent communication and patient care skills Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy healthcare environment Rheumatology knowledge and previous experience are highly preferred Certification in Medical Assisting preferred but not required Certification in BLS Strong verbal and written skills Superior customer service skills A high level of professionalism Skills in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner and using a multi-line phone system. Able to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions. Demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others Ability to process patients and public inquiries and respond with poise and efficiency. Ability to communicate in writing, over the telephone, and in person with patients' insurance representatives. Ability to recognize, evaluate, solve problems, and correct errors. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to maintain records Knowledge in the fields of medicine, anatomy and physiology Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods of time. Some bending and stooping are required.
