The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care. Essential Job Responsibilities:
Escort patients to the exam room, review medication list, obtain medical history, take vital signs, and document all information collected in the patient's EHR chart before seeing the provider. Assist patients with questions related to their healthcare. This includes providing instructions to patients regarding medications and/or special diets as directed by their provider. Schedule referrals and/or procedures as ordered by provider. Complete all provider orders in a timely manner per established policy and procedure. Review labs in EHR and oversee the trending of current labs and future labs. Triage phone calls and messages. Return calls in a timely manner per established policy and procedure. Clean and sterilize medical instruments, equipment and rooms per established guidelines. Assist with documenting medication samples, as needed. Participate in quality improvement reviews when required. All other duties as assigned by the Clinical Lead and/or management.
Performance Requirements:
Adhere to company policies and procedures. Ability to acquire the skills/functions required to perform the job within an acceptable manner of time (90 days) Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with physicians, advanced practitioners, patients, employees, and outside medical facilities and physician practices. Ability to stay organized, work under pressure, establish priorities and multi-task. Ability to evaluate and solve problems. Ability to competently operate standard office equipment. Professional written and verbal communication skills required. Knowledge of computer systems, programs and applications including medical software and electronic medical records. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of clinical practice principles and techniques Knowledge of government regulations and legal requirements related to healthcare (HIPAA/OSHA).
Education and Licensing Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited vocational institution or community college. National certification as a CCMA or equivalent certification. Current CPR/BLS certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment. Current immunization records required for working in healthcare (Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis).
Experience:
Two years of experience in a medical office, clinic, or hospital setting preferred.
Equipment Operated:
Standard nursing and office equipment including computers, telephones, fax machines, copiers, and printers.
Work Environment:
Combination of office, exam, and other clinical settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions that are common to a clinic setting. The position is in a well-lit office environment and requires working under stressful conditions and occasional irregular work hours (including evening and weekend hours). The employee is expected to clock in and out each day. A standard work day is 7:30am to 4:45 (Mon-Thu) and 8:00am to 1:00pm (Fri). Exceptions may apply.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
Work may include sitting for long periods, stooping, bending, and stretching. Occasionally, one may lift and carry items weighing over 50 pounds. Must be able to use proper techniques in body mechanics when making necessary patient transfers and while helping patients walk, dress, etc. Frequent stress due to the level of responsibilities. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Manual/finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination required.
