The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing both clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced medical environment. This role is essential in ensuring that our patients receive high-quality care while maintaining efficient office operations. The Medical Assistant will work closely with healthcare professionals. Clinical Responsibilities Room and prepare patients for examination and treatment Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, medication lists, and chief complaints Perform patient triage, including assessment of symptoms and communicating concerns to providers Assist providers during examinations and procedures Administer medications and injections as ordered by the provider Conduct COVID-19, influenza, and strep testing according to clinic protocols Prepare and clean exam rooms and maintain clinical supplies Other duties as assigned Allergy & Asthma Testing Perform percutaneous skin testing according to clinic protocols Conduct spirometry testing and accurately document results Perform FeNO (Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide) testing Prepare patients for allergy and asthma-related diagnostic procedures Monitor patients during and after testing for adverse reactions Immunotherapy & Specialty Procedures Administer walk-in immunotherapy (allergy) injections in accordance with provider orders and safety protocols Monitor patients following allergy injections and respond appropriately to reactions or emergencies Assist with oral medication challenges and food challenges Observe and document patient responses during challenge procedures Maintain accurate immunotherapy documentation and injection records Medication Coordination & Authorizations Submit prior authorizations for medications, biologics, testing, and specialty treatments Follow up with insurance companies regarding authorization approvals and denials Coordinate and schedule medication deliveries for patient biologic therapies and specialty medications Maintain accurate documentation related to specialty medications and deliveries Biologic medication knowledge preferred, including familiarity with specialty therapies used in allergy and asthma treatment Administrative & Patient Support Responsibilities Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) Respond to patient phone calls and relay messages appropriately Assist with medication refills, referrals, and patient education as directed Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations Support daily clinic workflow and assist team members as needed Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred Current Medical Assistant certification preferred Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a medical office preferred Allergy and asthma clinic experience strongly preferred Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures Experience performing spirometry and allergy testing preferred Experience with medication prior authorizations and specialty medications preferred Biologic medication knowledge preferred Strong understanding of immunotherapy injection protocols and patient safety Ability to recognize and respond to allergic reactions and medical emergencies Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical setting Work Environment This position works in a clinical medical office environment with frequent patient interaction and exposure to allergy and asthma testing procedures.
