Job post summary Job description: The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting clinical operations within the group practice. They are responsible for preparing patients for examinations by taking vital signs and medical histories, as well as assisting healthcare providers during procedures. The Medical Assistant manages administrative tasks, including appointment scheduling, patient record maintenance, and billing support. They ensure a smooth patient experience by providing education about procedures and medications. Additionally, the Medical Assistant collaborates with clinical staff to maintain a clean and organized environment, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of patient care. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient service are essential for success in this role. Clinical Duties & Responsibilities - Medical Assistant Patient Intake & Triage Greet patients and prepare them for examination Obtain and document vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, oxygen saturation) Collect and update patient medical history, medications, allergies, and chief complaint Perform basic triage and promptly notify the provider of abnormal findings Accurately document all information in the electronic health record (EHR) Diagnostic & Clinical Testing Perform EKGs Collect specimens and perform COVID-19, influenza, and strep testing Conduct spirometry / pulmonary function testing per protocol Perform urinalysis , , and glucose testing Perform ear lavage/irrigation as ordered Prepare patients for examinations and procedures Assist providers during exams and minor procedures Administer medications and injections as ordered Provide wound care, dressing changes, and suture removal as directed Infection Control & Safety Follow standard precautions and infection control protocols Properly clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments and exam rooms Ensure proper handling and disposal of biohazard and sharps waste Maintain compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and clinic safety policies Equipment & Supply Management Maintain clinical equipment and ensure proper functioning Stock and organize exam rooms and clinical supplies Report equipment issues or supply shortages promptly Additional Clinical Responsibilities Support quality improvement and clinic workflow efficiency Perform other clinical duties as assigned within scope of practice Must have:
