This role assists with patient intake, clinical procedures, front desk operations, and overall patient flow to ensure a safe, efficient, and positive patient experience. Essential Functions Patient registration, insurance verification, and co‑pay collection Scheduling and referral coordination Patient intake, medical history documentation, and vitals Point‑of‑care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, EKG, pregnancy testing) Phlebotomy and specimen preparation Preparing and stocking exam rooms; monitoring supplies Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation Supporting front desk operations, phones, and patient communication Opening/closing duties, including cash handling and reconciliation Performing equipment checks, calibration, and troubleshooting Adhering to all clinical, safety, and organizational policies
Education & Experience Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross) at time of hire
Preferred:
Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program Front desk or patient registration experience Certification Requirements For candidates with less than 3 years of Medical Assistant experience , one of the following is required: CCMA (NHA) CMA (AAMA or CHP) RMA (AMT, AAH, or ARMA) NCMA (NCCT) NRCMA (NAHP) Certification Alternative (Experience Pathway) Candidates may qualify without certification if they have: 3+ years of Medical Assistant experience , and 1+ year in a Hospital, ER, or Urgent Care setting
Note:
Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire if not already completed. Alternative Accepted Backgrounds LPN or RN (graduate of accredited program) EMT or Paramedic (NREMT) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Additional Requirement CPOE certification must be obtained within 2 weeks of start date Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency in core Medical Assistant clinical skills Strong computer and documentation skills Detail‑oriented and organized Ability to work both independently and on a team Strong communication skills and patient focus Commitment to treating all individuals with respect and cultural sensitivity Additional Information This job description is not all‑inclusive and may be adjusted based on business needs.
