Job Summary:
Responsible to greet patients, activate patient files, and move patients through a pre- determined protocol at clinic.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include scheduling and organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assist patients with changing to exam gowns, and transfer to exam table if needed Assess patient's general condition and collect patient history Take appropriate vital signs Document health history, activities, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record Provide basic patient care as ordered by physician and assist physician with various procedures Provides patient education materials, communicates physician advice/instructions to patient Cast and splint application and removal Fit patients with braces, boots, other DME as ordered by physician Wound dressing changes Prepare injections Suture and staple removal Sterile tray set-ups Obtain lab/x-ray reports Schedule surgery, hospital procedures and pre- and post-op appointments Schedule MRI, CT scans, labs, etc. Schedule referrals to other physicians Assist with prior authorizations Perform ECG studies Clean and stock exam rooms Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies Compliance with HIPAA, OSHA and Red Flag Rules Able to provide coverage to other AOC offices. Other Duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or GED certificate.
Experience:
NA Other Requirements:
LPN, CMA, CST
preferred or equivalent experience - prefer current state license or national certification Good communication skills Maintain current CPR certification
Qualifications:
Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, hospitals, other physician offices, and general public Ability to make decisions and solve problems Work effectively as team member with physicians and other staff Appropriately interact with patients, families, and others Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands Must have a flexible work schedule with the ability to work late some days and work through the lunch break on busy clinic days
Physical/Mental Requirements:
Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reaching Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc. Must be able to life up to 30 pounds Occasional stress from workload Must be able to use a variety of office equipment including phone, copy machine, writing instruments, pc, fax and medical equipment including stethoscope, ECG, blood pressure cuff, and cast saw equipment.
