Full-Time Job Description:
The Certified Medical Assistant / Medical Assistant facilitates patient flow in Bath Community Physician Group and ensures accurate and complete medical records. This role coordinates office resources for tests, orders, radiology, and results. Duties and Responsibilities Greet patients, obtain height, weight, vital signs, and prepare them for examination. Record details of chief complaint, review of systems, medical history, social and family history, and risk factors. Update medication and allergy information, including reactions. Submit and perform orders under medical provider supervision. Track orders, record results, and notify providers of updates within the electronic health record system. Troubleshoot order issues and incomplete results. Ensure prescriptions are submitted via e-prescribe as instructed. Assist with patient disposition, including healthcare instructions, education, and prescription guidance. Ensure documentation is complete before closing the patient chart. Inventory, order, and stock exam room supplies. Adhere to infection control guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE). Communicate critical information effectively. Perform additional duties as assigned, including covering for colleagues and working beyond scheduled shifts as needed. Participate in educational activities and complete them in a timely manner. Attend departmental and hospital meetings. Comply with Bath Community Hospital's policies and procedures, including professional licensure requirements. Other duties assigned Willing to travel to all four clinics located in Covington, Hot Springs, and Millboro. Professional Requirements Maintain a neat and professional appearance. Complete annual education requirements. Stay updated on regulatory changes. Observe patient confidentiality. Wear identification and adhere to timekeeping protocols. Attend in-services and participate in quality improvement activities. Skills and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. Healthcare experience and knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to document patient exams accurately and legibly. Proficient in using computers and learning new applications. Strong communication skills to collaborate with the healthcare team. Organizational skills to track patient care and improve flow. Professional demeanor and privacy awareness. Physical Demands Standing, walking, sitting, and moving objects. Lifting up to 50 pounds. Use of both hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine dexterity tasks. Close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustments are required.
