Capital Women's Care is a 150+ group of OB/GYNs located throughout Greater Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. Role Summary The Medical Assistant/Front Desk Receptionist Float will be responsible for welcoming patients, collecting essential information and payments, performing administrative and clinical support tasks, and ensuring a smooth and positive experience for patients both in person and over the phone. This role will be approximately 80% clinical and 20% front desk , ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about providing exceptional care to women. This role requires flexibility, a high degree of professionalism, and the ability to travel to multiple practice locations.
Key Responsibilities Medical Assistant Duties:
Responsible for verifying patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary. Responsible for collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, giving patients injections and drawing blood. Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding electronic and paper medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential. Informs patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about surgery. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations. Assist with sterilizing equipment / maintain proper working knowledge of the Autoclave.
Front Desk Duties:
Greet and check-in/out patients in a courteous and professional manner. Collect co-pays and verify insurance eligibility. Register new patients and update existing patient demographics in the EHR. Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments. Answer and triage incoming calls; respond to patient inquiries. Obtain referrals, medical records, and prepare charts. Post daily charges and process payments. Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Certified Medical Assistant required. Minimum 2 years of experience in a healthcare or clinical office (OB/GYN experience preferred). Proficiency in EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Solid understanding of medical terminology. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality. Calm and effective under pressure; strong problem-solving skills. Flexibility to adjust schedule on short notice to support provider needs.
