Job Description

Newport News, Virginia Overview Supports the LPN outpatient palliative care program nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the palliative care team and patient needs to support and grow the program. The Medical Administrative Assistant utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making, working as part of the care team and for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Must demonstrate competence in dealing with age related needs of the palliative patient. Utilizes the Riverside Care Difference principles in all interactions. What you will do Complete and fax paperwork to DME and Home Health Companies. Provides clerical support for department/facility directors and/or managers.
Duties include:
reception, greetings, customer service, answering phones, taking messages, referring calls, mail distribution, etc. Triaging patients over the phone and connecting patient to appropriate nurse or provider. May perform other tasks such as patient registration and specific administrative duties to support special events or projects. Imports documents to Electronic Medical Records. Manages provider schedules, confirming, scheduling, and rescheduling visits. Manages provider schedules, confirming, scheduling, and rescheduling visits. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED, (Required) Program Graduate, Medical Assistant (Preferred) Experience Less than 1 year Healthcare experience (Required) Licenses and Certifications CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required) To learn more about being a team member with Riverside Health System visit us at https://www.riversideonline.com/careers.
