The certified medical assistant performs a wide range of clinical duties including assisting the physician in providing quality care in a medical office setting. The certified medical assistant must be able to demonstrate the knowledge required to provide age appropriate care for the patients served in the practice, and skills to interpret assessment in relation to principles of growth and development over the life span. In addition, the certified medical assistant must be knowledgeable of health insurance guidelines for preauthorization's and referral processes, and be attentive to scheduling testing and specialist visits within network guidelines. What you will do Exhibits knowledge of lab procedures to include compliant use of ABNs and phlebotomy skills (if applicable). Sends specimens to correct lab. Accurately performs lab linkage, obtains pre authorizations, scheduling tests and specialist visits within network limitations. Follows insurance carrier guidelines and Medicare regulations. Maintains a working knowledge of ICD9 and CPT coding and seeks assistance as needed. Acts as a liaison between physician and patient, providing patient access to care, including for appointments, referrals and essential information. Demonstrates excellent customer service to include providing timely patient response and follow up. Manages patient expectations with clear explanations (i.e., informing patients about delays as appropriate) and effectively manages the providers' patient schedules. Provides patient education per protocol and provider instruction to include Electronic Health Record and exit interview communication tools. Maintains excellent clinical competency to include the initial patient work up (including manual vitals), chaperoning patients, assisting providers with procedures, and ensuring patient rooms are clean and compliant for next visit. Ensures that clinical equipment is maintained and clinical supplies are ordered and stocked as necessary. Supports productivity goals to maximize use of facility resources to meet patient demand. Maximizes physician visits so that productivity targets are met. Qualifications Education , Medical Assistant (Required) Experience Clinical experience (Preferred) Licenses and Certifications Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) (Required) or CCMA
  • National Healthcareer Association (NHA) (Required) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (AMT) (Required) or Medical Assistant
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) (Required) or Medical Assistant (MA)
  • American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) (Required) CPR/BLS Certification
