6 Richmond, VA Job Details Part-time 1 day ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Desktop applications Computer skills Medical assisting Productivity software Full Job Description The VCU Center for Advanced Health Management (CAHM) is a home base for an advanced comprehensive care model for qualifying patients with complex care needs, including older adults. We are a specialized adult primary care clinic that is made up of two clinics: complex care and geriatric care. Our complex clinic cares for adults with multiple comorbidities and our geriatric clinic has geriatricians who specialize in dementia, mobility issues and caregiver burden. Our team supports a very diverse patient population so our nurses are always learning and growing. We are a wonderful team of nurses, social workers, pharmacy, x-ray, outreach and lab excited to welcome a new team member! This is a part-time position (20 hours/week) with weekday, daytime hours. Our clinic is open Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm. The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician. Hire:
Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as, the American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists, The National Association of Healthcare Professions, the American Registry of Medical Assistants, or the National Healthcare Association. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as, the American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists, The National Association of Healthcare Professions, the American Registry of Medical Assistants, or the National Healthcare Association.
AHA BLS HCP
Certification or equivalent Experience
REQUIRED
One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if individual is not a graduate of a medical assistant program No work experience if individual is a graduate of a medical assistant program Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft, e-mail, etc. Demonstrated experience utilizing strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills Experience
PREFERRED
Two (2) to three (3) years of previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant Previous experience in an academic health care environment Education/training
REQUIRED
High School Diploma or equivalent Education/training
PREFERRED
Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program from an accredited program of study such as the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). Independent action(s) required: Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure. Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor: time/schedule changes; legal issues; directed care which deviates from standard; and identify educational resources to meet developmental needs. Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A Additional position requirements: Certified Medical Assistants work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet clinic requirements and/or as needed.
