Job Description

Position Summary The Certified Medical Assistant I is dedicated to offering exceptional patient care; facilitates the efficient flow of the patient office visit experience while maintaining high quality and compassionate care. Major Duties and Responsibilities Perform patient intake to include medical history with accurate documentation in the electronic health record. Patient triage to include vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height, and weight). Perform phlebotomy and ancillary clinical kit testing and specimen collection. Administering immunizations and variety of injections. Maintain temperature logs, QA processes, OSHA policies. Assist providers with procedures Phone triage to include communication with pharmacies for patient medication refills. Exam room set up/ cleaning/stocking Electronic input of patient lab/radiology orders. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine laboratory tests. Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to operate, clean and sterilize. Knowledge of appropriate medical terminology to communicate with medical and laboratory staff. Skill in operating a variety of laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Skill in proper reporting of laboratory tests. Skill in communicating clearly with diverse publics. Skill in appropriately billing orders collected. Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer. Ability to work in multiple computer systems effectively. Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols. Ability to work independently.
Education / Training
/ Requirements High School Diploma/GED; no experience required. Medical Assisting Diploma and/or Certificate of Completion required. Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA, or RMA) required. Current CPR or BLS certificate. Physical Demands Ability to stand and walk for limited periods of time. Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to climb or balance for limited periods of time. Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs. • Ability to grasp and hold up to 25 lbs.• Ability to hear normal voice level communications in person or through the telephone. Ability to speak clearly and understandably. Ability to smell.
