Medical Assistant - Obstetrics & Gynecology Virginia Beach/Norfolk | Certification Required Job Description This role provides comprehensive clinical and administrative support in a women's health setting. The Medical Assistant greets and rooms patients, supports providers during high-volume clinics, accurately documents in the electronic health record, and helps ensure each patient visit runs smoothly and efficiently. The position combines direct patient care, chart preparation, and scheduling responsibilities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment focused on women's health. Responsibilities Greet patients in a courteous and professional manner and escort them to examination rooms. Prepare patients for their visit by verifying information, completing intake, and ensuring they are ready to be seen by the provider. Document patient information accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record (EPIC). Stock examination rooms and triage areas with appropriate medical supplies to ensure they are fully prepared for patient care. Schedule patient appointments with providers, including physicians and residents, following clinic guidelines and availability. Call patients to remind and confirm upcoming appointments and reschedule patients as needed, including those on bump lists. Coordinate and schedule resident clinics where appropriate, ensuring accurate and timely appointment management. Prepare charts for the next day's clinic, including creating new patient charts and organizing existing records. File, pull, and organize patient charts, ensuring all necessary documentation is available prior to the visit. Verify that referrals and authorizations are in place and complete before the patient's appointment. Support patient flow throughout the day, helping manage a schedule of approximately 16 patients in the morning and 15 in the afternoon. Collaborate with 3-5 providers and another Medical Assistant to maintain efficient clinic operations. Perform chart preparation tasks, including reviewing patient histories, updating information, and ensuring completeness before visits. Perform other related duties as assigned to support clinic operations and patient care. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in women's health, such as OB/GYN, reproductive medicine, fertility, or related settings. Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant (Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant). Proficiency with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC. Strong medical assisting skills, including patient intake and basic clinical support. Ability to manage patient flow in a busy clinic, supporting multiple providers in a Urogynecology or women's health environment. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and chart preparation. Professional, outgoing, and friendly demeanor with strong interpersonal and patient service skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in OB/GYN, women's health, reproductive medicine, or fertility practices. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a clinical team, including collaboration with other Medical Assistants and providers. Strong organizational and time management skills to handle scheduling, chart preparation, and supply management. Work Environment This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position, typically working from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role is based in a clinical setting focused on women's health, with a steady patient flow of approximately 16 patients in the morning and 15 in the afternoon. The Medical Assistant works closely with 3-5 providers and another Medical Assistant in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
