JOB SUMMARY
JOBSUMMARY/OBJECTIVES
The Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) plays a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to a diverse population. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed physician or registered nurse, the MA performs a blend of clinical and administrative duties to ensure efficient clinic operations and a positive patient experience.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Direct Patient Support:
Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including taking and accurately documenting vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation, weight, height). Assist patients with comfort, positioning, and mobility as needed. Document patient observations and care provided accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic health record (EHR). Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.Clinical Assistance:
Prepare and clean exam rooms before and after patient visits, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are readily available. Assist nurses and providers with minor procedures and examinations. Collect and process specimens (e.g., urine, blood) according to established protocols and ensure proper labeling for laboratory analysis. Perform basic wound care and dressing changes as directed by a licensed nurse or provider. Assist with inventory and stocking of medical supplies in exam rooms and clinical areas.Administrative Support:
Greet patients warmly and direct them to appropriate areas. Assist with scheduling follow-up appointments or tests as needed. Answer patient questions within the scope of practice and refer clinical questions to the appropriate licensed professional. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care. Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.Qualifications:
Current and unrestricted Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) certification in the state of Vermont. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of [X, e.g., 1 year] of experience as an LNA, preferably in an outpatient, clinic, or community health center setting. Proficiency in taking and documenting vital signs. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with a compassionate and patient-centered approach. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, sometimes challenging environment with a diverse patient population. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
