Job Description

Position:
Medical Assistant Objective:
As a trained medical professional at Cascade Women's Health (CWH), the Medical Assistant's role is to work collaboratively with the medical team and patient advocates to offer a team approach of care. The MA will assist with medical services within scope as delegated by a staff nurse or practitioner. ​ Reports to:

Maintains an active license as a medical assistant-certified in Washington State. Maintains an active CPR certification. Exhibits a strong interpersonal and administrative skill set. Responsibilities:
Follows current medical policies and procedures. Completes annual training requirements. Performs CLIA waived testing per policies and procedures. Processes specimens for lab courier pick-up. Follows the appropriate linear service model and uses the approved medical dialogue to relay pertinent communications. Uses the pregnancy wheel to verify the accuracy of the EGA and EDD while scheduling to complete patient follow up duties. Distributes prenatal vitamins to qualifying patients per policy and procedure, when applicable. Provides health education literature to patients for medical services as needed. Is present with the sonographer during the ultrasound procedure if needed. Assists the staff practitioner during well woman exams. Assists the staff nurse during pregnancy test and STI testing appointments. Assures compliance with infection control guidelines. Cleans medical equipment and prepares the room for the next patient appointment. Reviews appropriate discharge forms and documents according to charting guidelines. Signs all appropriate documentation and charting. Documents appropriately in medical logs. Assists with making follow up calls to patients after their appointment. Completes mandated reporting per Washington State laws and regulations. Completes assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner. Participates in required scheduled meetings and trainings. Collaborates with medical professionals and patient advocates for responding to the patient's needs. Is familiar with approved resources, brochures, and referrals that medical professionals and patient advocates may recommend to patients. Consults with the nurse manager, staff nurses, patient services director, and other appropriate staff/volunteers about patient situations according to HIPAA guidelines.
Other Duties:
The medical assistant participates in scheduled meetings and may be assigned other duties or responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the nurse manager.
Work Schedule:
The medical assistant is a paid position. This is a part-time position of 21-23 hours per week, and is scheduled on the same days and at the same time each week with the exception of some required evening events or trainings. Potiental for hours to increase as services expand based on patient need. ​
Salary Range:
$24 - $28/hr
DOE Pay:
$24.00 - $28.00 per hour
