Responsibilities:
Obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration for pediatric patients. Perform hearing screenings and vision tests to assist in comprehensive assessments. Prepare patients for examinations by recording medical histories, medication lists, and allergies. Assist healthcare providers with procedures such as nebulizer treatments and immunizations, including injections. Label and collect specimens, including throat swabs, urine samples, and venipuncture for lab testing. Support laboratory testing, including blood glucose monitoring via glucometer. Manage office duties such as handling pharmacy calls, patient refill requests, and telephone triage. Donate your skills for procedures like TB skin tests, suture removal, and rooming pediatric patients. Ensure proper documentation and maintains patient flow throughout the clinic.
Required Skills:
Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) credentials — RMA and other certifications are not accepted for this role. Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in an outpatient pediatric setting. Proficiency in vital sign measurement, medication recording, and patient history documentation. Ability to perform basic procedures such as injections, specimen collection, and screenings confidently. Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail in documentation and patient management. Have Skills:
Experience working with EPIC or other electronic health records systems. Knowledge of pediatric-specific procedures and assessments. Bilingual skills to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; formal Medical Assistant certification essential. Previous experience in a busy outpatient pediatric clinic environment highly preferred. Experience using clinical software such as EPIC is advantageous.
Other Requirements:
Schedule:
4 days a week, 10-hour shifts, from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM — Monday through Thursday, with Fridays and weekends off.
Location:
This role is based at a well-established pediatric clinic located within a 50-mile radius of the candidate's residence; local candidates strongly preferred.
Certifications:
Valid WA State MA-C license required. Proof must be provided during application.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform clinical procedures as needed.
Travel & On-call:
No travel or on-call duties required. This is a contract position with a potential to transition to permanent employment, offering stability and career growth.
