Our collaborative team of specialists prioritizes patient education and state-of-the-art medical therapies. Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our growing clinical team. In this role, you will work closely with our nephrologists and advanced practice providers to ensure seamless patient flow and high-quality care. Because our patients often manage complex hypertension and renal conditions, exactness in taking vitals and a comforting bedside manner are essential.
Key Responsibilities Patient Intake:
Escort patients to exam rooms, take highly accurate vital signs (with a strong emphasis on manual blood pressure readings), and record weight/BMI.
Clinical Support:
Thoroughly update patient medical history, current medications, and allergies in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Lab Processing:
Perform routine phlebotomy and appropriately collect, prepare, and route lab specimens (blood and urine) for specialized renal testing.
Provider Assistance:
Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during general examinations and minor in-office procedures.
Care Coordination:
Process prescription refills, manage prior authorizations for specialized medications, and help schedule follow-up appointments, imaging, or outpatient dialysis.
Patient Education:
Distribute educational materials regarding blood pressure management, renal diets, and medication adherence as directed by the provider.
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Licensure:
Active Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) credential in the State of Washington (or ability to obtain prior to start date).
Experience:
1+ years of clinical Medical Assistant experience preferred. Prior experience in nephrology, cardiology, or internal medicine is a significant plus.
Clinical Skills:
Strong proficiency in phlebotomy, accurate manual blood pressure measurement, and strict adherence to clinical safety protocols.
Technical Skills:
Comfortable navigating EMR software and performing basic administrative computer tasks.
Certifications:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. What We Offer Competitive hourly wage, aligned with the Spokane market.
