Exemption Status Non-exempt/Hourly (part time; maximum of 20 hrs/wk, 10-months; flexibility of hours for some nights and weekend activities). Position Overview LUMIN Schools is seeking a compassionate, organized, and student-centered Medical Assistant to support the health and wellness needs of students and staff at our Racine Campuses. The Medical Assistant will work collaboratively with the Manager of Health Services (School Nurse) and school staff to provide basic medical care, maintain health records, and help ensure a safe and healthy learning environment. Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Collaborate with the school nurse on daily health office operations Provide basic first aid and care for ill or injured students Monitor and document student visits to the health office Administer medications and treatments as directed by the school nurse and according to network policy Maintain accurate student health records and confidentiality Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns as appropriate Support students with chronic health conditions per the individualized health plans Assist with hearing, vision, dental and other health screenings Ensure health office supplies are stocked and organized Follow all network, state, and federal health and safety regulations Experience and Requirements Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) required Current CPR and First Aid certification required Experience working with children or in a school setting preferred Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to remain calm and professional in emergencies Knowledge of confidentiality requirements and student privacy laws High school diploma or equivalent required. Post high school education in a related field is desired Possess the ability to establish a rapport with youth, parents and other staff, while maintaining appropriate boundaries Working Conditions Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time, depending on work task Work will be performed in a school environment Clear need to understand and lead efforts in child and school safety Ability to move from task to task, efficiently and take direction from others, as necessary Travel between our two Racine campuses This Job Description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of someone in this position.
