Outpatient, Direct Primary Care, Osteopathic Medicine Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant (MA) supports the delivery of high-quality patient care by performing both administrative and clinical functions within a direct primary care and osteopathic practice. The successful candidate demonstrates sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to adapt to changing clinical needs while maintaining a professional, compassionate approach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Front Office Responsibilities:
Greet patients with professionalism and confidentiality. Accurately enter, update, and maintain patient information within the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Coordinate scheduling for acute, routine, and follow-up visits, ensuring efficient clinic flow. Manage phone lines, voicemail, faxes, and electronic correspondence with attention to detail. Handle patient referrals, record requests, and documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards. Support administrative processes including filing, scanning, and maintaining patient records. Prepare and distribute patient forms, consents, and educational materials as directed. Represent the organization professionally during business meetings, outreach events, or partnership discussions as assigned. Back Office (Clinical)
Responsibilities:
Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for examination or treatment. Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, and chief complaint with accuracy. Assist with osteopathic procedures, diagnostic testing, and specimen collection. Perform point-of-care testing and basic laboratory procedures under clinical supervision. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of all clinical areas. Restock supplies, monitor inventory, and ensure adherence to infection control protocols. Document all patient interactions, interventions, and procedures accurately and timely. Provide patient education and post-visit instructions as directed by the provider.
Qualifications:
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant preferred. Minimum of 1 year experience in a clinical or outpatient healthcare setting preferred. CPR and First Aid certification (required or ability to obtain before start date). Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and patient care standards. Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems required. Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting. Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, and commitment to patient confidentiality. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
