Job Description
Join a mission-driven team at South Peninsula Hospital where your expertise in medical coding directly contributes to high-quality patient care and accurate health data management. In-office required.
Assign accurate
Ensure coding supports quality metrics, audits, and reimbursement standards.
Maintain compliance with SPH, state, and federal regulations.
Complete coding within required timeframes to support timely billing and data reporting.
AAPC or AHIMA coding certification required.
Minimum of five (5) years coding experience in an acute care hospital setting.
Strong knowledge of inpatient and outpatient coding systems across various specialties.
Proficient in using word processing, spreadsheets, and coding-related software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong multitasking and organizational abilities.
Physical requirement: Must be able to sit for extended periods and use a computer throughout the workday.

Review and analyze medical records for outpatient, inpatient, and Long Term Care services.Assign accurate
ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPC
II, and CPT codes in compliance with all coding guidelines.Ensure coding supports quality metrics, audits, and reimbursement standards.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Associate of Applied Science degree or AHIMA independent study program preferred.AAPC or AHIMA coding certification required.

South Peninsula Hospital is a 50-bed acute and long-term care facility located at the southern end of Alaska's Kenai Peninsula, offering a close-knit, purpose-driven work culture. The Health Information Management (HIM) department plays a critical role in supporting clinical care through accurate documentation and data integrity. This position requires strict confidentiality and attention to detail in a quiet, office-like setting.Hazard Note:
