Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing & Coding Specialist with a focus on Ophthalmology to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of ophthalmic medical procedures, billing processes, and coding standards. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately processing insurance claims, managing medical records, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Your expertise will contribute to the efficient operation of our billing department and the delivery of quality patient care. Duties Review ophthalmology medical records to assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes for procedures and services. Utilize ICD-10 coding systems to ensure precise diagnosis coding aligned with clinical documentation. Process and submit accurate medical claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection practices, ensuring timely resolution. Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records, ensuring all billing information complies with regulatory standards. Stay current with updates in DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications, CPT coding guidelines, and ICD coding requirements. Collaborate with ophthalmologists and administrative staff to clarify documentation and optimize billing accuracy. Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and industry best practices in all billing activities. Skills Proficiency in

DRG, CPT

coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems for ophthalmology procedures. Strong knowledge of medical terminology specific to ophthalmology and general healthcare practices. Experience with medical billing, collections, and insurance claim processing within a clinical setting. Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems used for documentation and billing purposes. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple claims and maintain accurate records efficiently. Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately for coding purposes. Effective communication skills for liaising with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
