In this energetic role, you will be responsible for translating complex radiology procedures and diagnoses into standardized codes, supporting the financial health of our organization while maintaining compliance with industry regulations. Your attention to detail and thorough understanding of medical terminology will help streamline our revenue cycle and improve patient record accuracy. Responsibilities Review radiology reports, medical records, and documentation to assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes. Ensure accurate coding for diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, ultrasounds, and nuclear medicine studies. Verify that all coding aligns with payer guidelines and complies with federal and state regulations to prevent claim denials. Collaborate with medical billing teams to facilitate smooth claim submission and follow-up on unpaid or rejected claims. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding changes, industry standards, and regulatory updates affecting radiology coding practices. Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently to access patient information and document coding accurately. Assist in auditing medical records for completeness and accuracy to support proper reimbursement and compliance efforts. Qualifications Proven experience in medical coding, specifically within radiology or diagnostic imaging environments. Strong knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, DRG assignment, and ICD coding conventions. Familiarity with medical billing processes, collections, and insurance claim procedures. Excellent understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, pathology, and radiology procedures. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and medical records management software. Ability to interpret detailed medical documentation accurately and efficiently. Prior experience in a healthcare setting involving medical office operations is highly desirable.
