Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. This in-office hybrid position is looking for a candidate that possess a comprehensive understanding of medical coding procedures, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding, and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding systems such as ICD-9 and ICD-10. As a Coding Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate medical billing, precise medical records documentation, and seamless communication between clinical and administrative departments. Your expertise will contribute to optimizing revenue cycle management while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Duties Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG systems. Ensure accuracy in coding to facilitate precise medical billing and reimbursement processes. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies promptly. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, healthcare regulations, and payer requirements to ensure compliance. Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently for data entry, coding, and record management. Support the training of new staff on coding protocols, medical terminology, and documentation standards. Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies. Requirements Proven experience in medical coding with proficiency in
DRG, CPT
coding, and ICD coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10). Strong knowledge of medical billing processes, medical records management, and healthcare reimbursement procedures. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for efficient data entry and record keeping. ECW a plus Excellent understanding of medical terminology, clinical documentation practices, and healthcare regulations. Prior work experience within a medical office environment is highly desirable. Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical skills for accurate code assignment. Ability to adapt quickly to changing guidelines and maintain compliance standards at all times.
