Job Description

Posting Details This posting will be used for ongoing recruitment and may close at any time. Applicant lists may be screened more than once. Why does the job exist? This position will make sure that codes are assigned correctly and sequenced appropriately, comply with medical coding guidelines and policies, receive and review patient charts and documents for verification and accuracy, follow up and clarify any information that is not clear to other staff members, collect information made by the Physician from different sources to prepare monthly reports, and implement strategic procedures and choose strategies and evaluation methods that provide correct results. How does it get done? This position will ensure that all duties are completed appropriately per government and insurance regulations. Who are the customers? The staff, patients, and community. Ideal Candidate The staff, patients, and community. Minimum Qualification High School Diploma or equivalency and one (1) year of recent coding experience working in a hospital setting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience. Must have completion of an AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) approved coding certificate RHIA, RHIT, or CCS, or have completion of an AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) approved coding certificate, CPC, or CIC. Employment Requirements Must be able to successfully pass a background check. Working Conditions Work is performed in a hospital setting, long hours of sitting, typing and computer work are required.
