IMPACTThe Senior Specialty Coder
- OB/GYN ensures accurate and compliant physician/professional fee (ProFee) coding that supports reimbursement integrity and minimizes denials.
This role reviews clinical documentation, assigns ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and upholds a coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher. Success is measured by audit performance, denial reduction, and adherence to payer and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities Review and analyze OB/GYN physician documentation to assign accurate
ICD-10-CM
(diagnosis) and CPT (procedure) codes in accordance with payer and regulatory guidelines Abstract patient and provider data within Epic EMR and related coding systems to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement Maintain coding accuracy of 95% or higher and identify documentation deficiencies or discrepancies Collaborate with clinical documentation improvement (CDI) and revenue cycle teams to resolve denials and coding inquiries Stay current on coding updates, payer policies, and industry best practices for specialty physician servicesMinimum Qualifications Active coding certification (CPC, CCS-P, or specialty equivalent required)
- Not open to apprentices At least 2 years of OB/GYN coding experience required 5+ years of OB/GYN coding experience + COBGC coding certification required for specialty pay rate Experience with physician (professional fee) coding in a healthcare setting Candidate must have a laptop and two monitors available to work fromCore Tools & Systems Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) systems ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines and reference tools Practice management and billing systems Microsoft Office or comparable productivity softwarePreferred Skills Strong attention to detail and coding accuracy Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment Excellent communication and organizational skillsLegal NoticeThis position requires an in-person interview.
