Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented DME Billing Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the billing processes for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) supplies and services, ensuring accurate coding, timely submission, and effective follow-up on claims. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycle management while maintaining compliance with industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced environment where precision and efficiency are paramount. Duties Prepare and submit accurate DME insurance claims using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes. Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding of medical procedures, diagnoses, and treatments related to DME services. Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits to facilitate smooth claim processing and maximize reimbursements. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, including resubmission and appeals. Maintain detailed records of billing activities within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for audit readiness. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve billing accuracy. Stay updated on industry regulations, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications, and coding guidelines to ensure compliance. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing, specifically within DME or durable medical equipment services. Strong knowledge of medical coding including
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG
classifications, and medical terminology. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems for billing purposes. Excellent understanding of medical records management and documentation standards. Ability to navigate insurance policies, benefits verification processes, and medical collections effectively. Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously. Prior experience working in a fast-paced medical office environment is preferred.
