JOB DETAILS
Join UCSF Health and help elevate critical care excellence as the next Unit Director, Medical Surgical ICU. The Position The Unit Director, Medical Surgical ICU will provide operational and clinical leadership for a high-acuity critical care environment, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and equitable patient care while maintaining continuous readiness for CMS and The Joint Commission (TJC) regulatory standards and UCSF Health. Reporting to the Senior Director of Nursing, this leader will provide oversight of two campus locations and approximately 69 FTEs. This leader will be responsible for addressing structural gaps within the department through strategic recruitment and staffing efforts to promote operational stability. Additional responsibilities include mentoring and developing staff, enhancing the patient experience, and partnering with organizational leadership to identify opportunities for service line growth and improvement. The ideal candidate will be a highly visible, hands-on leader with exceptional collaboration and communication skills. A seasoned critical care leader with experience in academic medical centers and an understanding of unionized environments will be essential for success in this role. Requirements Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Active CA RN license and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required. Minimum of two years of recent progressive nursing leadership experience at the supervisor or manager level within an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in an acute care medical center within the last five years required. Strong hospital operations and management experience is essential. Compensation Range The base salary range for this position is $262,000 to $278,000 annually. In addition, a leader may be eligible for other benefits, including but not limited to health insurance coverage, retirement benefits, and bonuses. The total compensation for the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The base salary range listed above is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
