Your Role:

Oversee, organize, and maintain a complete and accurate medical records system for all residents Direct the day-to-day operations of the Medical Records Department Ensure the confidentiality and security of all health information in accordance with HIPAA and facility guidelines Review and process medical record requests, referring any questionable releases for appropriate review Ensure timely filing and maintenance of all medical documentation, reports, and correspondence Monitor record accuracy and completeness to support survey readiness and regulatory compliance Prepare reports and maintain required statistical and management data Support quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives through routine chart audits and reviews Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure accurate and timely resident documentation Educate and support staff on medical record procedures, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements Perform additional administrative and clerical duties as needed

Who We're Looking For:

Experience in medical records or health information management, preferably in long-term care or a healthcare setting Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred Knowledge of HIPAA and state and federal regulations related to health information management Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems RHIT or related certification preferred High school diploma or equivalent required A dependable, accountable, and team-oriented professional committed to excellence in recordkeeping and resident care Who We Are Rio Grande Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center proudly serves the La Jara community by providing compassionate, high-quality skilled nursing and rehabilitation services.
