Full Time Schedule:
Full-time, 40-hour workweek with no weekend requirements. Limited off-hour commitments, including 2-3 early morning (7:00 AM) or evening (6:00 PM) meetings per year.
Job Summary:
The Director of Medical Staff and Centralized Credentialing Office will direct strategy and operational activities of Physicians and Provider credentialing across the Saint Francis Health System for the purpose of ensuring Quality and compliance with Joint commission, state laws and other regulatory bodies.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in business, data analytics, healthcare, or related field. Master's degree, preferred. Licensure, Registration and/or
Certification:
A valid driver's license, Motor Vehicle Report, and proof of vehicle liability insurance in amount required by Saint Francis Health System (SFHS) guidelines.
Work Experience:
Minimum 5 years in Management. Medical staff office or related experience, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Medical staff credentialing. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal that present clear and concise information. Strong leadership skills related to navigating situations that involve multiple departments. Sound ability to analyze complex issues and solve them creatively. Ability to utilize assertiveness, political intuitiveness, and be self-motivated.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Participates in credentialing oversight and monitoring at all SFHS entities. Directs strategic and operational elements of the System Inpatient credentialing and Medical Staff Functions and directs department operations. Works closely with Vice President of quality and other service lines leaders to development, support and oversight of Medical Staff Office activities that are requirements of regulatory and accreditation bodies, such as ongoing professional practice evaluation. Responsible for managing the verification process for all new and reappointing applicants to the professional and allied health staff. Oversees development of practitioner information systems and coordination of information flow with other departments and the medical and allied health staff. Responsible for providing administrative support to the Credentials Committee and Medical Executive Committee, and collaborating with the MEC, Credentials Committee, and department chairs on the creation and revision of privileges forms, credentialing standards, and criteria. Coordinates and maintains Medical Staff governance documents: Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, related documents (Credentialing Policies, Policies and Procedures, etc.). Coordinates implementation of all approved programs, projects, and major activities of the Medical Staff. Ensures appropriate communication of internal and external issues that affect the programs and activities of the Medical Staff, including regulatory and accreditation issues, new and existing. Provides oversight of all aspects of MEC committee activities in partnership with president of medical staff.
Decision Making:
Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.
Working Relationships:
Direct supervision of others. Has input on performance evaluations but does not prepare or give. Prepares and gives performance evaluations. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
