Occasional Domestic and International Travel Required About the Opportunity We are seeking a highly experienced and board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician to serve as the Medical Director for a federal law enforcement tactical medicine program supporting the United States Marshals Service (USMS) Special Operations Group (SOG). This position provides medical oversight, operational medical support, physician-directed certifications, and advanced tactical medicine training for elite law enforcement personnel. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in tactical emergency medicine, EMS medical direction, federal law enforcement medical programs, and operational medicine in high-risk environments. Key Responsibilities Serve as the designated Medical Director and primary physician authority for the SOG Medic Program. Provide medical oversight for approximately 25 tactical medics. Authorize and oversee physician licensure and medication protocols, including controlled substances. Develop, maintain, and update operational medical treatment protocols. Deliver a minimum of 40 hours annually of tactical medicine and operational medicine training. Conduct EMT refresher courses and continuing education programs. Provide off-line medical direction and program administration. Support SOG selection courses by providing on-site physician oversight and candidate medical screening. Maintain 24/7 physician consultation capability through a hospital-based medical communications center. Participate in operational planning, deployment medical support, threat assessments, and post-mission reviews. Provide clinical oversight for hands-on training in emergency, urgent care, and critical care environments. Attend program planning meetings and coordinate with government stakeholders. Support quality assurance, compliance, and program improvement initiatives. Minimum Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). Current unrestricted State Medical License. Current DEA Registration with ability to procure controlled substances for official government use. Board Certification in Emergency Medicine (American Board of Emergency Medicine). Active clinical practice in a hospital-based Emergency Department. Minimum 10 years of medical oversight experience supporting a federal law enforcement tactical medicine program. Extensive experience in EMS education, tactical medicine training, and certification programs. Experience managing quality assurance programs within tactical medicine environments. Peer-reviewed publications in tactical and operational medicine. Demonstrated leadership within national tactical medical organizations. Current Top Secret Clearance or ability to successfully obtain one. Preferred Twenty (20) or more years of experience in tactical emergency medicine supporting law enforcement or special operations units. Fellowship training or advanced expertise in Tactical Medicine, EMS, Disaster Medicine, Global Health, or Ultrasound. Experience serving as a Medical Director within federal special operations or tactical law enforcement programs. Research activity and recent publications in tactical medicine. Proficiency in point-of-care ultrasound and operational medicine. The successful candidate must be comfortable operating in austere conditions and collaborating with law enforcement personnel in mission-critical settings.
Pay:
