Position Summary The Regional Medical Director (RMD) for PathPoint Health provides clinical leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the metabolic health program. This role is responsible for ensuring delivery of evidence-based, high-quality care for patients with obesity and related metabolic conditions, while driving clinical consistency, provider performance, and measurable outcomes. Partnering closely with operations leadership to build and scale a multidisciplinary care model, the Regional Medical Director ensures patients receive coordinated, longitudinal care that improves health outcomes and patient experience, and plays a dual role as both a practicing clinician and a physician leader. Key Responsibilities Clinical Oversight and Care Delivery:
Establish and maintain evidence-based protocols for obesity and metabolic disease management, and oversee appropriate use of: anti-obesity medications (e.g., GLP-1/GIP, combination therapy). Strong understanding of documentation, coding, and compliance in an outpatient setting. Protocol Development and Standardization:
Assist in developing and continuously refining protocols for patient evaluation and care, drive standardization across providers and sites, and partner with leaders to embed protocols into workflows and EMR (Athena). Quality, Outcomes and Performance:
Define and monitor key clinical metrics and improvement in metabolic markers, and lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance outcomes. Leadership and Development:
Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and support to team of providers, and foster a culture of accountability, consistency, and continuous improvement. Multidisciplinary Care Integration:
Ensure effective collaboration between entire care team and support staff, define and support appropriate referral pathways (behavioral health, bariatric surgery, specialty care), while promote a team-based approach to patient care. Operational And Strategic Partnerships:
Collaborate with leadership on scheduling models and provider capacity, patient access and clinic flow, and program development and service expansion. Support and contribute to scalable, efficient care delivery models, strategic planning, and growth initiatives. Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure scope of practice and supervision requirements and compliance with all state and federal regulations, HIPAA and patient privacy standards. Oversee safe prescribing practices and risk mitigation, and support audit readiness and regulatory compliance. Leadership & Competency Expectations:
Ability to lead with a systems-based, protocol-driven approach to care with strong communication skills with both clinical teams and operational teams. Demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based medicine and continuous quality improvement, while balancing clinical excellence with efficiency and scalability. Required Minimum Qualifications Education/Licensure:
MD or DO with active, unrestricted medical license in Florida, active DEA license, and board-certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Endocrinology, or Obesity Medicine. Certification:
American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) certification OR eligibility to sit for ABOM within a defined timeframe. Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of clinical and Telehealth experience (experience in outpatient setting preferred), with demonstrated experience in chronic disease management (e.g., obesity, diabetes, hypertension). Strong knowledge of anti-obesity pharmacotherapy, including GLP-1/GIP-based therapies and combination medications. Soft Skills:
Experience working within a multidisciplinary care model (medical, nutrition, behavioral health) and proven ability to provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and oversight while working collaboratively in a growing clinical practice. Strong communication, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making skills. Technical:
Proficiency with EMR systems, Microsoft Office, and Telehealth platforms. Preferred Qualifications Specialty Expertise:
Prior experience in a metabolic health, bariatrics, endocrinology or weight management clinic, and familiarity with with anti-obesity medication protocols and prior authorization workflows. Leadership:
Leadership experience in a scaling or growth-focused clinical environment, with direct responsibility for developing and implementing clinical protocols and care pathways. Background in value-based care, outcomes tracking, or population health management are preferred. Technical:
Proficiency with Athena EMR system.
