Job Description

Overview Lead the Future of Hematologic Cancer Care OSF HealthCare is seeking a visionary Medical Director of Hematology, Hematologic Malignancies & Cellular Therapy to lead and expand a comprehensive, high-impact program within a mission-driven, nationally recognized health system. This is a rare leadership opportunity to shape the future of advanced hematologic care—including cellular therapies, CAR-T, and transplant services—while building a premier regional destination program. Why This Opportunity Stands Out Be a Builder & Innovator Lead the strategic development and expansion of a growing hematologic malignancy and cellular therapy program, including immune effector cell therapies and transplant services. Drive Clinical Excellence Champion high-quality, evidence-based care while advancing outcomes, quality metrics, and multidisciplinary integration across the system. Shape a Destination Program Play a key role in achieving the first FACT accreditation in downstate Illinois and elevating OSF's position as a regional leader in hematologic cancer care. Advance Research & Innovation Expand clinical trials, collaborate with industry and cooperative groups, and foster a culture of academic and translational research. Lead & Mentor Recruit, develop, and inspire a high-performing team of physicians and advanced practice providers while building a collaborative, patient-centered culture. What You'll Do Develop and execute a multi-year strategic vision for hematology and cellular therapy services Provide medical oversight of CAR-T and stem cell transplant programs Lead quality improvement initiatives, outcomes tracking, and performance excellence Drive regulatory readiness and accreditation (FACT, Joint Commission) Expand research programs and clinical trial participation Strengthen regional referral networks and program visibility Lead hematologic malignancy tumor boards and complex case reviews. Strengthen care transitions across inpatient and ambulatory settings. Who We're Looking For
  • Board-certified in Hematology/Oncology
  • Fellowship-trained with expertise in hematologic malignancies
  • BMT (Bone Marrow Transplantation) fellowship trained preferred
  • Proven leadership experience (Program Director, Section Chief, or similar)
  • Two years' experience with cellular therapy, transplant, and/or early-phase clinical trials
  • Strong background in clinical research, quality improvement, and program development
  • Passion for building programs, mentoring teams, and advancing patient care Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Doctorate Experience:
Five years in medical practice.
Licensure/ Certification:
Physician Licensed to practice Medicine in current state and/or states covered by the clinic or telehealth practice. Board certified or board eligible in the appropriate specialty(ies).
Other Skills/ Knowledge:
Strong understanding of business practice analysis and reporting mechanisms with demonstrated ability to verbalize how the business portion impacts the clinical portion of the program's activities. Analytical skills necessary in order to develop and implement new services, evaluate performance, systems and/or procedures, determine needs for capital equipment and personnel. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to teach, coach and mentor the team to strive towards providing patient care aligned to the preferences, goals, and needs of the patients served. Strong Communication skills and ability to engage with those with those on the team to foster a positive culture in the workplace as well as engage with those in the community.
