Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Southwest Michigan | Multi-Site Primary Care Leadership Cassopolis, Niles & Dowagiac, MI $275,000+ Base + Up to $20,000 Performance Bonus + Full Benefits + Relocation Assistance Lead Clinical Excellence in a High-Growth Healthcare Organization A rapidly growing, multi-site healthcare organization in Southwest Michigan is seeking a strategic and clinically grounded Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to lead medical operations, provider performance, and quality initiatives across its expanding footprint. This is a unique opportunity for a physician leader who combines strong clinical credibility with business acumen and a passion for organizational growth. The ideal candidate brings meaningful experience in primary care / family medicine and is ready to help shape the future of a growth-stage healthcare organization. The CMO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, driving clinical strategy, provider engagement, quality outcomes, and operational excellence across multiple sites. The role requires regular travel between Cassopolis, Niles, and Dowagiac, Michigan . Position Overview The Chief Medical Officer will balance direct patient care responsibilities with executive leadership and administrative oversight. This role is designed for a physician who enjoys both clinical practice and strategic leadership, with the ability to influence care delivery, improve outcomes, and support long-term organizational growth. The selected candidate should be comfortable maintaining an active patient panel of approximately 600 patients annually while leading medical staff and broader clinical initiatives. Key Responsibilities Provide executive leadership for all clinical operations across multiple locations Develop and implement clinical strategy aligned with growth objectives Maintain direct patient care responsibilities, seeing approximately 600 patients annually Lead quality improvement, patient safety, and care outcome initiatives Oversee provider performance, peer collaboration, and clinical best practices Support provider recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts Partner with executive leadership on growth strategy, service expansion, and operational planning Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards Establish and monitor clinical KPIs, provider productivity metrics, and patient satisfaction benchmarks Drive process improvements across workflows, documentation, and care delivery Serve as a mentor and leader for physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff Collaborate with operations and finance leadership on budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation Qualifications MD or DO required Board Certification required Active Michigan medical license required at time of hire Significant post-residency clinical experience in primary care / family medicine Prior medical leadership, physician management, or administrative experience preferred Strong business acumen and growth-oriented mindset Demonstrated experience balancing clinical responsibilities with leadership duties Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills Comfortable traveling regularly between Cassopolis, Niles, and Dowagiac, MI Compensation & Benefits $275,000+ base salary Up to $20,000 performance bonus Relocation assistance Medical, dental, and vision benefits Paid time off CME reimbursement 401(k) / retirement benefits Executive leadership growth opportunity Why Join This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible executive leadership role within a healthcare organization entering a significant growth phase.
