Job Description

Are you a visionary emergency medicine leader passionate about clinical excellence, physician engagement, and patient-centered care? Join the team at Virtua Health as the facility medical director for the Virtua Camden emergency department and play a key role in shaping the future of emergency care in one of New Jerseys most dynamic communities. The FMD serves as the clinical and operational leader of the ED, partnering with hospital administration, nursing leadership, and physician teams to ensure exceptional patient care, quality outcomes, and departmental performance. This leadership position combines clinical practice with administrative responsibilities, offering the opportunity to influence strategy, quality initiatives, provider development, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Provide clinical and administrative leadership for the emergency department Foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and patient-centered care Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing emergency medicine physicians and advanced practice clinicians Lead quality improvement, patient safety, and performance initiatives Collaborate with hospital leadership on strategic planning, operational goals, and resource management Monitor departmental metrics, including patient experience, throughput, productivity, and clinical outcomes Support compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and community engagement Maintain an active clinical presence within the emergency department If you are an EM board-certified or board-eligible physician with recent EM leadership experience, apply today to become a part of a mission-driven team shaping the future of emergency care in South Jersey!
